HAPPY MONDAY! If you're anything like me, you've probably seen it multiple times. This is by far my favorite movie in a long time. I love it! The message, the music, the acting, the life lessons...the list goes on. So today I thought it'd be fun to share some lessons I learned from this movie and what I took away from it. BE YOURSELF "When the sharpest words wanna cut me down I'm gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out I am brave, I am bruised I am who I'm meant to be, this is me" I love The Bearded Lady and when she sings "This Is Me" I literally get goosebumps! She is absolutely amazing and the message in this song is gold.  Anyone that reads my posts regularly knows that I haven't always been th...

At a time when technology is literally at our fingertips, we are being bombarded with images, songs, movies, and other media that influences us and if we're not careful, can define us.  I don't know about you, but there came a point in my life where I said, "Enough is enough." I got tired of my self-worth and happiness being determined by other people and other things. I wanted to be a strong, confident woman that didn't give a s*** what others thought about me. I wanted to not only be happy in my own skin, but feel beautiful in it! I wanted to know how it felt to ...

Image
Happy Wednesday! I hope you're all having a great week so far! Yesterday was my 27th birthday...yikes I can't believe it!...and I got thinking about all the things I've done in my life, who I am today, and what's gotten me here. I know a lot of you that read my blog probably feel like you know me and my story. You may think I have life figured out or that I always have my crap together. But today I wanted to share some fun, light-hearted things about myself some of you may not know! So here you go: 10 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Me! 1. I'm Slightly Afraid of Elevators (Thanks Dad!). This is a trait I share with my father and it was definitely worse when I was younger. But to this day, I still prefer escalators over elevators. Something about hanging in a big metal box with no windows gets to me! 2. I Had to Have My Gallbladder Removed. Back in 2013 I was having gallbladder attacks more and more frequently. After ending up in the ...

Five Lessons I've Learned From Owning A Business

Image
Happy Friday!   So this post is a longer one, but I promise...it's worth it! For those of you that don't know, I'm the boss lady behind Lexi's Loft ; an online clothing boutique with everything from baby onesies and kid's tees to women's tees and tank tops.  Owning your own business is great! It definitely comes with a unique set of challenges, but I'll save that for another post. Today I want to talk about several important things I've learned during my time as a small shop owner. Some lessons I learned the hard way, and others came fairly easily. But all of them have played a crucial role in who I am as a person and how I run my business. This first one was definitely learned the hard way. You Can't Please Everyone .  By nature, I'm such a people-pleaser. I like to be happy, but I also like to make others happy. This isn't necessarily a bad thing; there's just a fine line you have to walk in terms of pleasing your custom...

Sue Me, I'm Obsessed With Popcorn

Image
Happy Wednesday! Today I just wanted to do a fun silly post and share something that y'all probably don't know about me. Popcorn. I am completely obsessed! As I'm sitting here writing this post, and munching on some popcorn, I started thinking about why I love it so much. Here's what I came up with. No. 1: Options, Options, Options I love that people are so creative and come up with tons of variations for such a simple snack! I've tried everything from Chocolate Potato Chip Popcorn to Muddy Buddy Popcorn. Some have been total fails, but most are pretty freakin' delicious. Some of my favorites right now are Cinnamon & Sugar , Pumpkin Spice and Sea Salt Caramel . No. 2: It's Fresh & Easy! This is where it gets real and I go a little diva on you. So most people are completely happy with microwave popcorn. Not this girl. Shawn and I got a stove top popper right before we got married and have been using it ever since. Honestly, we ...
