What's Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

It's time for the first round of What's Up Wednesday this year with my girls Shay and Sheaffer. It's a new year and I couldn't be more excited to crush some goals and make 2019 my best year yet! Here's what's new and exciting!

What we're eating this week:
So I'm sure y'all know, but I freaking love Trader Joe's...really I'm obsessed! I got some of their tamales to try this week and I'll let you know how they are. We're also having one of our favorites, Mediterranean Meatballs with grilled peppers and diced potatoes! And of course, Snickers Rice Crispy Treats for my man.

What I'm reminiscing about:
My grandpa passed away unexpectedly 17 years ago this month and I still miss him every day. We were really close and spent a lot of time together. The more time that goes by, the harder it is to remember him. Thank goodness for family stories and photos to help keep his memory alive! I recently had the opportunity to visit my grandma and while we were talking she said that how fast I talk reminded her of what my grandpa use to say about me. She told me that he loved having me around and taking me on trips with him because I would talk so much and so fast that he was always entertained. Until we meet again Grandpa!

What I'm loving:
This year I decided to try a new planner. Everyone had been raving about the Erin Condren LifePlanners so I figured I'd give it a go. I'm loving it so far! I did a whole post on the planner and all the accessories I use plus gave some tips on how to stick to your plans here. Y'all have got to give these planners a try, they're a game changer!

What we've been up to:
Shawn and I just got back from St. George, Utah. We were there for a really long weekend and had a blast visiting family! Next thing for us is to tackle building our dresser. Stay tuned for more details and what I'm sure will be hilarious stories!

What I'm dreading:
Nothing really at the moment!

What I'm working on:
I've been super busy planning a huge event for all of the young women at my church next month. It's for all of the girls to showcase projects they've been working on for a program called Personal Progress. It's a program where they study their scriptures, do service projects, write in their journals about spiritual experiences and more, all to become the best versions of themselves and draw closer to God. The theme of the event is "Personal Progress Makes You Practically Perfect in Every Way", taken from the Mary Poppins quote. So I'm in charge of doing posters and printables, photo booth props and the printed program outline...all Mary Poppins theme. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What I'm excited about:
Shawn and I just booked a cruise with his parents, brother and sister in law! We're going to the Western Caribbean in September with stops in Cozumel, Cayman Islands and Jamaica! We've always gone with Carnival so it'll be our first time cruising with Royal Caribbean and we've heard good things! If any one has recommendations of what to do in these ports, what to bring, etc that'd be awesome!!

What I'm listening to:
I just finished listening to the final book in the Falling Kingdoms series. Y'all, it is so good! I know I've talked about this series before, but I highly recommend it! I listen to books through my library or Audible while I'm exercising and working, it helps me feel more productive than if I just it down and read for hours. You can see my entire 2019 Book List here!

What I'm watching:
Um, "The Bachelor" of course!! But I've also been binge watching the Netflix show "Bodyguard" with the dreamy Richard Madden. So good! It's only one season so far and six episodes that are an hour each. By the end I was definitely wanting more! Do y'all like Colton as the bachelor? Which pageant girl is crazier, Hannah B or Caelynn? I know I can't be the only one thinking this haha. Tell me all your thoughts below!

What I'm wearing:
I just got the two cutest tops from Bohme last week and I'm obsessed! The first one is a long sleeve v-neck button down shirt that is super flattering and oh so comfy! The other one is a crew neck striped long sleeve tee and is the softest thing ever. Like I said, I'm obsessed with both and want to wear them all the time! I'm also still loving my super cute fur boots from Express that are perfect for winter (they're on major sale right now and also come in black)!!

What I'm doing this weekend:
Watching the Super Bowl of course! We came to love the Patriots when we were in Boston for dental school so we're excited that they're in it again this year and can't wait to watch. Are you watching? What are some fun traditions you have? Do you place bets on who will win? Have certain snacks and drinks? Tell me all about them in the comments! You can also see the post I wrote this week about How to Host a Fun Football Party Stress Free! Some of my fave football foods are little smokies, wings and homemade Texas caviar!

What I'm looking forward to next month:
Have y'all seen the trailer for the new movie "Isn't It Romantic?" starring Rebel Wilson?! It comes out right around Valentine's Day and I'm really excited to see it with Shawn. It looks HILARIOUS! I freakin' love Fat Amy!

What else is new:
I started Invisalign a few weeks ago! It's been quite the adjustment since I've pretty much given up soda, gum, and sweets because I have to wear the trays 22+ hours a day. Taking them in and out is a pain (I also have a rubber band on one side to align my jaw) so it's a good way to stop from constantly munching. I can't wait to see the end results!

Bonus question this month: What's your favorite family Valentine's Day Tradition?
Growing up, my mom would always prepare the most amazing Valentine's Day dinner for our family. We'd eat in the fancy dining room instead of the kitchen. She'd use her fancy dishes, randomly spread conversation hearts and red M&M's around the tabletop, and even have pink mashed potatoes to go with our annual Chicken Cordon Bleu. We ate by candle light and exchanged simple gifts. I looked forward to it every year!
