Traveling Vibes

Well I'm heading to Dallas today and can't wait to soak up more time with my fam! Shawn is in Guatemala for a dental mission trip with his school and it's freezing and snowy in Boston so I thought it'd be the perfect time to sneak over to Dallas!

I totally dread packing for several reasons: I always have that feeling that I'm forgetting something and usually remember it when I'm already on the plane, I never feel like I pack enough and always end up overpacking, and I hate being confined and limited to what can fit in a suitcase! But as I was packing for this trip, I realized that there are always staple items that I pack or bring for almost any trip! Here are ten items I can't travel without!

1) A cozy over-sized sweater: this is a no brainer to me! No matter the occasion of your trip, there's always time to sneak in a little cozy sweater session and snuggle up. Sitting by the fire at a lodge in the mountains, snuggling in bed on a chilly island night, or hangin' on the couch watching Netflix with the family. For this trip I'll be bringing all of mine since Dallas is unusually cold this year. I'm taking this one (it's on sale!) in tan and gray! Oh and gotta take some chunky knit

2) A good rom-com: any flight, especially a long one, can be so much better with a chick flick! I'm sure that most people know this, but I love that Netflix, Amazon Prime and Vudu all have shows and movies available for download to watch without data! It's so convenient and makes getting a classic rom-com for your flight so easy!

3) Dry Shampoo: another staple item in my suitcase! I've talked about my favorite kind before, but I love Not Your Mother's Unscented Dry Shampoo. It's nothing too fancy, but definitely does the job. The last thing I want to do on my vacation is spend my time washing my hair. Dry shampoo is a lifesaver!

4) Magnolia Journal: as most of you have probably seen in previous posts, I pretty much always travel with the current issue of The Magnolia Journal. It's my all-time favorite magazine! Good advice, good recipes, and good reminders.

5) Gum: This may be obvious to some, but chewing gum on the plane is like the best thing ever! It helps keep my ears from getting clogged because of the pressure change. And it keeps me from munching on all the not-so-healthy plane snacks haha!

6) Booties: booties for days please! If I could bring a suitcase full of just booties, I totally would. My hubby always makes fun of me for how many shoes I pack, but a girl's gotta have options am I right? Kind of like cozy sweaters, there's usually always a time and place for a good pair of booties. I'm trying to limit myself to three pairs for this trip...we'll see if that happens! (I LOVE White Mountain Shoes and their booties! Be sure to check them out and shop their "Extra 40% Off" sale!)

7) Wireless Headphones: I'm all about wireless headphones! No cord, no mess. There's already limited space in airplane rows, so the last thing I want is to be getting tripped up over unnecessary cords. I also don't have to worry about if I grabbed a pair of headphones that works for some jacks and not others. Seriously worth the investment! Side note: the maintenance man at our apartment complex actually went diving in the trash chute to retrieve these babies for me the night before we left on a trip. I was definitely not gonna travel without them!

8) My Planner: I never go on a trip without it! I'm definitely the kind of person that would lose her head if it wasn't attached...hence the need for a planner. I also like to use my time on the airplane to plan out my next couple weeks, make to-do lists, etc.

9) Texturizing Spray: love me some texture spray! This stuff is awesome and I swear by it. It's perfect for those messy hair days and helps make it look like your hair is supposed to look like that haha! Another trick so you don't have to spend your vacation washing your hair.

10) A Good Book: I'm currently reading/listening to the third book in the Red Queen series "King's Cage". I really like these books and totally recommend them! In between chick flicks and planning, I love to take breaks and read/listen to a few chapters. TIP: try renting an ebook or audiobook from your public library that you can download on the app and listen to without service!

Well, there you have it! Some of my must-have travel items. Have a fabulous Friday and a great weekend!
