How to Style a Graphic Tee

Is anyone else obsessed with graphic tees?! I am! Especially in the summer time! They can be dressed up, dressed down and worn for so many occasions and in so many ways. I honestly believe that everyone needs a handful of good graphic tees hanging in their closet...they're perfect staples pieces for any wardrobe, any season. I guess it kind of makes sense why I built a business around designing and making graphic tees!

So in today's post I'm sharing some different ways to style graphic tees, because let's be honest...one of the hardest parts about these kind of tees is knowing how to style them, what to wear them with and where to wear them.

"THE PARTIAL TUCK"

The first way to style a graphic tee is the partial tuck. This is my go-to look because it's casual yet still has structure. To show y'all the partial tuck, I chose my "Take It Easy" tee and I paired it with a few different items. You can wear it with simple white sneakers for a super casual comfy look or with heeled sandals for a dressier look. So simple and cute!
HOW TO DO IT:
Take the front 5-6 inches (horizontal) of your tee hem and tuck it into the waistband of your pants, skirt, etc. Then slightly pull the tee out for a casual loose look.
WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH:
- Pencil Skirt & Sneakers
- Pencil Skirt & Heeled Sandals
- Jeans & Sneakers
- Jeans & Booties
- Shorts & Sneakers

"THE FRONT KNOT"

Another favorite style of mine is the front knot. I love this one, especially if my graphic tee is super oversized and I need a way to make it look more feminine and structured. The front knot style would be cute with a high waisted skirt, jeans or shorts! I wore a leopard midi skirt and my "Tacos Por Favor" tee paired with two shoe choices...simple white sneakers or Espadrille sandals. Both are casual looks, but different kinds of casual. The sneaker look would be great for running errands or going to lunch, while the sandal look would be good for a party or dinner date!
HOW TO DO IT:
This is pretty much like tying a balloon. Gather all of the fabric on the front of your tee into your hand and pull it tight underneath your chest. Pull the end down and wrap it around two fingers then slip the little end through the hole to form a knot. You only need a little big of fabric to pull through. To loosen the knot and move it further down, hold the end that's sticking out and gently slide the knot toward it.
WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH:
- High Waisted Midi Skirt & Sneakers
- High Waisted Jeans & Booties
- High Waisted Shorts & Sandals

"THE COMPLETE TUCK"

The next styling tip is the complete tuck. I'm so obsessed with this look! I decided to wear my "Made in the 90s" tee with black crop pants and black pointed toe booties. The complete tuck accentuates your waist and creates a nice over all line, especially if you're wearing flare pants! A little tip: once you've completely tucked in your tee, pull it out slightly in the back for a looser casual look. You could also do a complete tuck with a midi or maxi skirt, flare jeans or shorts. This style looks best with high waisted items so keep that in mind when choosing what you pair it with!
HOW TO DO IT:
Take the hem of your tee and tuck it into the waistband of your pants all the way around your waist. Slightly pull on the back of the tee to create a looser look.
WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH:
- Wide Leg Pants & Heeled Booties
- Jean Jacket & High Waisted Bottoms
- Pencil Skirt & Sneakers

Another way to style a graphic tee is the front tuck. This one is similar to the partial tuck, but less of the tee is tucked here. The front tuck is what I usually do to my graphic tees when I wear them with bermuda shorts like the picture. It's still a casual look, but not too casual.
HOW TO DO IT:
Pinch the center of the hem of your tee and tuck it directly into your waistband. Loosen a bit if you want.
WHAT TO PAIR IT WITH:
- Bermuda Shorts & Sneakers
- High Waisted Jeans & Booties
- Leggings & Sneakers

Well, there you have it! Some simple and chic ways to style all your graphic tees! Check back for more future styling tips! Happy Wednesday!
