Dreaming About Dream Vacations

This cold winter weather's got me like....I'd rather be somewhere warm! Boston winter is absolutely miserable. Honestly, I don't mind the weather here from April to October, but November through March is terrible. It's freezing...actually it's below freezing most of the time, there's a ton of snow...like a ton, and the sky is always gray and dull...we never see the sun.

So I got to thinking about what would cheer me up and bring me out of this winter funk, and came to the conclusion that daydreaming and talking about my top five dream vacations would do the trick. So here we go!

My hands down, ultimate, number-one-on-my-list dream vacation is New Zealand and Australia! I have wanted to go there since I was a little girl. And I swear, one day I'll go! There are several things that draw me to that part of the world; the beaches, the beautiful blue water, the sexy accents. And of course...the reasons I probably shouldn't admit; Lord of the Rings and Mary-Kate & Ashley's movie Our Lips Are Sealed. Laugh all you want, but when I saw those movies as a little girl I knew I wanted to go visit some day.

For me, a trip "downunder" would include visiting the Great Barrier Reef, swimming at Bondi Beach, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and just driving up the beautiful coastline. In New Zealand I'd love to visit the Lord of the Rings sites, see White Island, soak up the sun at Hot Water Beach, hike

Tongariro Alpine Crossing, and explore the Waitomo Caves. Oh my goodness, I'm like drooling just looking at the weather there right now. It's 85 degrees! Um, yes please!

Dream vaca number two, an Eastern Caribbean cruise. Now I'm not just talking about any ol' cruise to a couple spots in the Caribbean. I'm talking about the ultimate, seven-eight night cruise that stops at all of the places I'm dying to go to down there. St. Maarten, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Turks & Caicos, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, and San Juan. Cruises are seriously the best. Your hotel, food, and transportation are all included. Shawn and I have only been on one cruise, but we loved it!

Next on the list is Europe. I mean, who doesn't want to experience Europe at least once in their life? Just like Australia, I'd love to be surrounded by people with beautiful accents. Scotland, Ireland, London, Paris, you name it! Seeing Paris and Rome are a definite must. I honestly wouldn't care what I was doing there. Just being in those places, taking in all the sites, and exploring would be the best. Oh and gelato!

So I don't know much about Brasil, but my husband served a two year mission there about ten years ago and has wanted to go back ever since. He said he'd love to take me and show me a lot of neat places there so this is kind of a joint dream vacation for the two of us! It would be so fun to explore and get to know a new country, culture, and landscape. And having a husband/tour guide that speaks Portuguese would be a definite bonus!

My last dream vacation would be to stay at the St. Regis hotel in Bora Bora! Have you guys seen pictures of this place? Talk about dreamy! It's got private villas that sit right out in the crystal clear blue water. The perfect place to unplug and unwind. With views like that, I'd never want to leave. I think this kind of vacation appeals to me most because it's low key, off the beaten path, and would let me truly relax and disconnect from the rest of the world.

Ok, can we talk about this dress I'm wearing for a minute? It's from the cutest little boutique called Modest Modern Mama. And it has pockets! I'm a sucker for dresses with pockets; they're seriously the best.

I paired it with my favorite tan leather jacket, black tights, and brown heeled booties. Comfy and casual. It could also be worn with a chunky knit sweater...my go-to.

Let's talk about the sleeves for a sec. They are a super flattering length and fit! Ideal for any arm shape. And that waistband! I love how it keeps the dress from looking frumpy and gives it a bit of shape. So perfect.

This dress is actually named after me (I feel so honored!) so when you're looking for it it's called the "Lexi Linear Midi" Dress. I've also linked it here. And be sure to use code "Lexi10" for 10% off! I'm 5'8" and wearing a large. I normally wear a medium. These run true to size and I probably should have gone with the medium, since the large is a bit big.

Tights - Primark (old)
Booties - Wet Seal (old)
Jacket - Forever 21 (similar)

Writing this post has been so therapeutic for me! Just dreaming and thinking about all these fun adventures I want to have some day has taken my mind off the gloomy winter weather outside my window. I'd love to hear about some of your guys' dream vacations so comment below! Happy Saturday and have a fabulous weekend!
