Oh The Joys of Apartment Hunting! This week has been a whirlwind! We gave our 60-Day Notice at our current apartment and began the dreaded process of apartment hunting. We are moving for a few reasons: Management is raising our rent $500 a month! There is constant noise and partying Shawn's commute is an hour and a half each way Our electricity and water (yes, they charge for water and sewer here) bills have been through the roof even when we don't use our A/C or heater! I really don't like apartment hunting. Actually I hate it haha! It is stressful and overwhelming. In an attempt to make the process easier, Shawn spent a few hours making a HUGE map of the Boston bus system and schedule so we could know what areas to look for housing in. I then took that map and looked on real estate websites for available apartments in those areas. It was quite the process! We have some friends that told us about a complex called "Harbor Point" and said th...

As women we are so hard on ourselves! I AM DEFINITELY GUILTY OF THIS!!! We are our own worst critics. We compare ourselves to the people in our lives, people in movies, people on magazine covers, and even people on the street we see in passing. Again, I AM GUILTY OF THIS! Some of us feel as though we live in the shadow of another and that we will never measure up; as if we were always meant to be second best. You guessed it, I AM GUILTY OF THIS TOO! I think a lot of women today focus too much on worldly characteristics and what society thinks. Doesn't it get old?! Having those feelings of sorrow, failure, and defeat? Realizing that you didn't magically switch places with that woman on the street or in that movie? What good did it do to compare yourself to them when in the end, you're still you? What good? The answer is it didn't. It didn't do you any good or make you feel any better about yourself. I've come to realize o ver time...let's b...

This past week has been so great! Shawn and I have had so much time to do things together and see things we never have before. School will be crazy for him for the next four weeks, so we wanted to take advantage of every minute we could! I really am lucky I'm in love with my best friend and that we get to have so much fun together. The first thing we did was golfing...well we went to the driving range haha. I have never actually been golfing, but I'm working up to it. This was entertaining to say the least. We went with some good friends of ours, and they all knew what they were doing except me. I had some good teachers and in no time I was hitting the ball instead of the ground. Just kidding! It was fun. And honestly, it was nice to just see the sun again and remember what it was like to have semi-warm weather! Monday April 20th was our first Patriots' Day out here in Boston. It commemorates the Battles of Lexington & Concord and is a state-wide hol...

Easter & General Conference I love this time of year! Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it's a reminder of Christ's sacrifice and what he did for me. Because of Him, I am sealed to Shawn forever. Because of Him, I get to see my Grandpa again. Because of Him, I can have eternal life and live with my family forever! It's perfect that Easter is right at the beginning of Spring. It brings new life and the sun begins to shine again. This year it was the perfect weekend. Between Boston being slammed with snow this winter and Shawn and I being so far away from family, Easter weekend was much needed! The sun was shining, General Conference was on, and the Easter holiday was here. Shawn and I had such a fun, uplifting, relaxing weekend. He didn't have to study and I didn't have to work. We just spent time with each other and had some much needed down time. We are usually with family in Utah every Easter, b...

It's Been A Couple Weeks of Excitement & Fun! These past couple of weeks have been great! We've had a lot of fun and exciting news, events, and achievements. 1. Shawn's parents are coming to visit in 46 days and have officially booked their flights! 2. Shawn got elected as the Vice Chair of Ethics & Professionalism and is so excited to start getting more involved! 3. Shawn's siblings all sent us a sweet Easter package in the mail! His family has a ton of Easter traditions and since we couldn't be there with all of them, they sent us everything so we could do it out here. Egg coloring kits, plastic eggs and candy for a hunt, baskets, and the cutest notes and cards. Such a sweet surprise :) 4. My sister Kaylyn and brother-in-law Garett just told us that they're moving to Dallas, TX next summer! I'm so excited for them. I'll for sure miss seeing them as much when we go home, but we are...

Dealing with Life’s Lemons! Man, I’m falling behind on this whole blog thing! Yikes! I better get my butt in gear. Anyways, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things lately. So disclaimer, this post may be fairly long…but it may also help someone out. I know it definitely helps me to write it all down. Everyone has heard the old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade…” Well, sometimes I don’t want freaking lemonade! Sometimes I just want to chuck the lemons back at life haha. Harsh, I know. But it’s the truth. Sometimes all I want is to vent, blow off steam, or punch a hole in the wall haha! I can’t be the only one who feels this way. I’m sure we’ve all had our moments. And by moments I mean weeks. This was just one of those weeks for me. I won’t bore you with the details, but let’s just say things have been snowballing for awhile and this week I burst. It takes a lot to make me cry and get upset over things, but the other night I did. I told Shawn everything that...

Hello March! Shawn and I had such a fun weekend! Friday night we went out to dinner with our good friends John and Brittney. We braved the freezing cold weather and snow-piled parking lots to go to Chili’s. The food was great, the Bruins game was on, and we had some great company. After dinner we went back to our place to watch Grown Ups 2 and eat brownies :) It’s always hilarious to watch a funny movie with people who haven’t seen it…their reactions are priceless! On Saturday we kind of had a lazy morning. I rolled out of bed around 9:00 and decided that eggs sounded good for breakfast. The night before Shawn told me to not let him sleep past 10:00 and to just wake him up. Knowing that waking Shawn up before he’s ready usually means facing his wrath for the next week, I came up with a brilliant plan. To ease the brutal morning wake up call, I decided to make Shawn bed in breakfast…which of course was a win-wi...
